Beeaaach!

Beeaaach!

Family is this totally wild thing. You commit yourself to others without reservation. You invite them in to hold while hurting (and they hold you in your vulnerability as well). And it’s not so dramatic as I’m making it sound either, more like the subtleness of noticing each other, reading the signs, communicating gently…. A thousand touches and glances…a million shared meals…singing along to the same tunes on every car ride. Endlessly changing and monotonous and thrilling and satisfying and scary. Thank you to the Hoyts for honoring me with the task of documenting your loving.

I count it a true success when a session feels like quality family fun.

Seeing the beauty often means just observing with a gracious heart. Loving what is and showing that back to the family you're with.

Rahm Family Mini Session

Much like every family I photograph, I completely fell for the Rahm family. Their joy and humor and tenderness is just straight up magic. It's no lie that I see the beauty everywhere I go and into this family home was no different. These are the lovely folks who run Beam and Anchor here in Portland so its clear they have great taste and they also have a wonderful generosity of spirit.

Kids Rule

The holiday season is in full swing and coming into people's homes during this time is such a sweet gift. For me December is a really tender family time and my house is full of garlands, wreaths, dried oranges, and hand painted cinnamon ornaments. Also the detritus of weeks of crafting with young children and a whole lot of paint in places I'd rather not have it.

Mini Lifestyle

The beauty of my photography approach is that I see and adore the way each family is unique. I'm not judging or pushing past what makes each family their own love story.

Winter Evening

when you see the details of your home in the background of your photos it will bring up so many memories of how and where you lived. That's why in-home sessions are my favorite. There's no better way to deliver a session full of forever photographs that elicit strong memories than to photograph you in your home.
